Jharsuguda DHH Doctor arrested for taking bribe from patient

Bhubaneswar: A doctor of Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital was arrested by vigilance for receiving bribe from a patient. Dr Supreet Sourav, a surgery specialist was caught while accepting bribe of Rs.6,000 from a patient for conducting his hydrocele operation and his co-villager. The operation is conducted free of cost in the government hospitals across the State.

Being a poor villager, the complainant requested the doctor to conduct surgery free of cost and expressed his inability to pay the bribe amount. However, the Dr Sourav refused to do so. Finding no other way, he approached the vigilance. Accordingly, vigilance team chalked out the plan and nabbed the tainted doctor while accepting the amount from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from his possession. Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Dr.Supreet Sourav from DA angle.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance registered a case under sections 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018.
