The accused contractual workers allegedly planned to kill the CMS in a road accident following a dispute; audio recordings submitted for forensic examination
Two health workers were arrested for allegedly conspiring to kill the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhanipur village of Bhadohi district, officials said on Wednesday.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Santosh Kumar Chak said the CMS had been posted at the Bhanipur Community Health Centre about a month ago. Around a week before the arrests, the CMS reportedly had an altercation with two contractual workers, aged 39 and 51.
Departmental Inquiry Found Allegations Against Workers True
Following the altercation, the CMS lodged a departmental complaint against the two workers. An inquiry was subsequently constituted, which found the allegations against them to be true, according to CMO Santosh Kumar Chak.
The matter later escalated after the CMS approached the police, alleging that the two workers had conspired to kill him.
Audio Clips Submitted as Evidence
According to police, the CMS lodged a complaint on Tuesday and submitted several audio clips in support of his allegation.
One of the recordings, which also circulated on social media, purportedly captured a conversation between the two accused regarding a plan to have the CMS killed in a road accident when he left the health centre.
Police said the authenticity of the recordings is yet to be established.
Accused Arrested From Two Different Areas
Inspector Manoj Kumar said one of the accused was arrested from the Unj Police Station area, while the other was arrested from the Gyanpur area late Tuesday.
The police will send the audio recordings submitted by the complainant for forensic examination. Voice samples of the accused will also be collected and matched with the recordings as part of the investigation.
Services of Contractual Workers Terminated
CMO Santosh Kumar Chak said the services of both contractual workers have been terminated following the developments.
The investigation is continuing, with forensic examination expected to establish whether the voices in the recordings belong to the accused and whether the alleged conversation was genuine.
