
Malaviyanagar police in Rajkot have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly running a private clinic and treating patients without holding a recognised medical qualification. Police said the accused had previously worked as a compounder at various hospitals in the city for around 15–17 years before allegedly practising as a doctor and operating his own clinic.
Police Raid on Private Clinic
According to police, information was received that an unqualified person was treating patients at Shiv Clinic on Gondal Road in Rajkot. Acting on the information, a police team conducted a raid at the clinic on the evening of August 8.
During the operation, officers asked the person present at the clinic to identify himself and produce documents or certificates establishing his medical qualifications. Police said he was unable to provide any medical degree certificate.
The man was subsequently arrested and medicines and medical equipment valued at Rs 16,484 were seized from the clinic.
Alleged Illegal Medical Practice
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted that he had been practising medicine without the required qualification for approximately six months, according to police.
Investigators also found that he had previously worked as a compounder at several hospitals in Rajkot for around 15–17 years. Police allege that he subsequently began presenting himself as a doctor and opened his own clinic.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, while the investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of his alleged activities and whether any other individuals were involved in running the clinic.
Investigation Underway
The case comes amid concerns over unqualified individuals allegedly practising medicine without recognised medical qualifications. Police are examining the circumstances under which the clinic was operated and the treatment allegedly provided to patients.
Further investigation will determine the complete nature of the alleged activities and whether additional action is required based on the evidence collected.
