NCB Seizes 2,796 LSD Blots Worth ₹1 Crore; Probe Reveals Nationwide Drug Supply Through Darknet and Courier Network
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested four persons, including a doctor and a medical student, for their alleged involvement in a pan-India LSD trafficking network operating through the darknet. During the operation, officials seized 2,796 LSD blots valued at around ₹1 crore, along with suspected hydroponic ganja, Nitrazepam tablets, and other narcotic substances.
The arrests followed an investigation initiated after the seizure of LSD blots in Chennai. During a week-long operation across Chennai, Kanniyakumari, and Pune, NCB officials tracked the alleged supply chain and arrested a key suspect accused of receiving, repackaging, and dispatching LSD consignments to different parts of the country through courier services.
According to the agency, the accused allegedly shipped drug parcels to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Investigators said several consignments were intercepted before reaching their intended destinations.
The investigation also led to the seizure of two parcels destined for Tamil Nadu and the arrest of three additional accused. One of the parcels allegedly contained 225 LSD blots intended for distribution in Kodaikanal. During the operation, officials also recovered 166 grams of suspected hydroponic ganja, 113 Nitrazepam tablets, and ₹70,000 in cash.
NCB officials said two suspects believed to be associated with guest houses in Kodaikanal and linked to the alleged drug trafficking network are currently absconding.
According to investigators, the syndicate allegedly sourced LSD through a darknet marketplace using the cryptocurrency Monero. The network is suspected of using encrypted messaging applications, reshipping techniques, and courier services to evade law enforcement agencies.
Investigators believe the racket had dispatched at least 14 drug parcels since April. The NCB said further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the network and uncover the full extent of the alleged trafficking operation.
