📍Agartala, Tripura |
In what is being described as one of Tripura’s most horrifying murder cases, a 28-year-old doctor allegedly killed a young man out of jealousy and romantic obsession with his cousin. The victim’s body was discovered stuffed inside a freezer at a family-run shop in Gandacherra, sparking outrage across the state.
🔍 Victim Identified as Sariful, Missing Since June 8
The victim, Sariful, an electrician working on the Agartala Smart City Project, had been missing since June 8. His family registered a missing person complaint the following day, naming the doctor—identified as the last person he contacted—as a person of interest.
On June 11, Tripura Police made a gruesome discovery: Sariful’s body hidden in a freezer at the suspect’s family shop in Gandacherra.
👨⚕️ Doctor, Cousin & Love Triangle
According to Superintendent of Police Kumar, the accused doctor, Dr. Dibakar Saha, had completed his MBBS from Bangladesh and was living in Agartala’s Bankumari area. He was reportedly in love with his own cousin, who previously had a relationship with Sariful.
Though the cousin later grew closer to Saha, he allegedly viewed Sariful as a romantic rival and decided to eliminate him.
⚰️ Premeditated Murder and Family Involvement
Investigators revealed that the murder was carefully planned:
- Two days before the crime, Saha bought a trolley bag to dispose of the body.
- On the pretext of offering a gift, he lured Sariful to Indranagar, where his parents and accomplices were present.
- Sariful was strangled to death, the body packed into the trolley, and later shifted to a woman’s house, identified as Mousami.
- The next day, Saha’s parents traveled to Agartala to help move the body back to Gandacherra and store it in a deep freezer at their shop.
🚔 All Six Accused Arrested
Based on call records and witness statements, police arrested Dr. Saha, his parents, and three co-conspirators, including Mousami. During interrogation, Saha confessed, leading to the arrests.
📝 Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that more revelations are expected as the investigation progresses. Police are also verifying the doctor’s credentials and background in Bangladesh.
🗣️ Public Outcry
This chilling case of love, jealousy, and betrayal has stunned Tripura residents and raised serious concerns about mental health, toxic obsession, and the role of family in enabling crimes.
