
Ahmedabad : The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police has filed a 400-page supplementary chargesheet against Kartik Jasu Manilal Patel, the Chairman of Khyati Multispeciality Hospital. The chargesheet is part of the ongoing investigation into the deaths of two PMJAY beneficiaries who allegedly underwent unnecessary angioplasty surgeries at the hospital.

- Incident Details: On November 11, 2024, two beneficiaries, Mahesh Girdhar Barot (52) and Nagar Moti Senma (75), died following angioplasty procedures that were deemed unnecessary by the health department’s expert committee.
- Chargesheet Details: The supplementary chargesheet includes additional evidence such as 25 new witness statements, bringing the total to 130 statements. It also includes evidence from 20 electronic devices and 38 files, as well as reports from the PMJAY-MA scheme, Bajaj Allianz, and hospital audits.
- Hospital’s Involvement: The medical history of 37 other patients treated under similar circumstances has been included in the report. This supplementary document also compiles findings from the government’s medical expert committee and hospital audit.
- Arrests: Patel was arrested on January 18, 2025, following the arrests of other hospital officials, including Director Rajshree Kothari and Cardiologist Dr. Prashant Prakash Vazirani, who was the first to be arrested in November 2024.
