Baddi: A four-year-old child tragically passed away while waiting for medical attention at Baddi Civil Hospital, allegedly due to negligence by the on-duty doctor.
Incident Details
- The child had been suffering from a cough for two days and was rushed to the hospital by his father, Bipan Kumar, at 2:45 am.
- Kumar claimed that the doctor did not examine the child and advised him to let the child rest, as he had been given 5 ml of cough syrup before arriving.
- The doctor reportedly asked Kumar to return in the morning instead of providing immediate treatment.
- Hours later, Kumar noticed that his child had become unconscious and desperately tried to find a taxi to take him to PGI Chandigarh.
- A taxi driver, Rakesh Kumar, eventually transported them to the hospital, where doctors declared the child dead.
Father Demands Action for Negligence
- Kumar, a resident of Jharmajri in Baddi, has demanded action against the doctor for alleged medical negligence.
- The hospital administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
- Senior Medical Officer Dr. Mahavir Chauhan denied any negligence, claiming he examined the child inside the duty room due to his own injury.
- However, Kumar’s account contradicts this claim.
The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about emergency medical care at Baddi Civil Hospital. Authorities are under pressure to take strict action and ensure that such negligence does not occur in the future.
