
Bagalkot: In a significant boost to the region’s healthcare infrastructure, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurated the 100-bed Aski Super Speciality Hospital and Research Centre in Bagalkot on Tuesday. The hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including AI-driven healthcare solutions, aims to provide advanced medical services to residents of Bagalkot and nearby areas.
Minister Advocates for a Government Medical College
During the inauguration, Minister Rao emphasized the need for a government medical college in Bagalkot, stating:
“Bagalkot must have a government medical college. I support this initiative and will discuss it with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Minister of Medical Education. The next time I visit, I hope to inaugurate a government medical college.”
Healthcare Growth in North Karnataka
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including:
- Former IT-BT Minister S.R. Patil, who highlighted Bagalkot’s growing reputation as a healthcare hub.
- Shivalingeshwar Mahaswamiji of Charantimath, who praised the hospital for bringing world-class healthcare to the region.
Job Creation and Future Impact
Dr. Preeti Aski, Founder and CMO of Aski Hospital, shared that once fully operational, the hospital is expected to create 450 high-tech jobs in North Karnataka, further boosting employment opportunities in the medical sector.
State’s Initiative for Safer Childbirth
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Health Department is working on a proposal to equalize payments for normal deliveries and C-sections in government hospitals. This move, announced by Minister Rao, aims to promote safer childbirth practices and reduce unnecessary C-sections.
